The Center for Fundamental Theory of the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos at Penn State will hold a workshop on "Physics with a Positive Cosmological Constant" on May 9-11, 2012.
The observed accelerating expansion of the universe and the origin of primordial density fluctuations are two of the most fundamental mysteries in physics today. Both require a better, and perhaps radically new, understanding of quantum physics in near de Sitter space. The main goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for discussion on these and related problems among researchers from different leading lines of thought, with input from the observational community.
Some participants of the KITP program, "Bits, Branes, Black Holes" will join our workshop from Santa Barbara through remote video-conferencing.
Invited workshop speakers include:
There is no registration fee. However, because of limited seating capacity, all participants must register by Friday, April 27, 2012. Please email Randi Neshteruk to register for the workshop.
The workshop will be held in 108 Wartik Lab on the Penn State University Park campus.
A variety of maps of Penn State and State College are available.
A map showing the route between The Atherton Hotel and Wartik Lab is also available.
The workshop program is now available.
